Center featured on WEDU's 'Quest'

TAMPA, Fla. (July 15, 2016) -- WEDU-TV featured the Florida Center for Cybersecurity (FC2) on its award-winning monthly series "Quest," which captures the latest breakthroughs in science technology and education.

The segment, which aired on July 14, 2016, focused on how the Center supports cybersecurity education, research and outreach programs. Sri Sridharan, executive director and chief operating officer for FC2, also talked about the Internet of Things and offered safety tips.

"If you take a look at all the cyber hacks and cyber breaches," Sridharan says, "I would say that 80 percent of them come form human errors where people are careless."

The segment also focused on some of the cybersecurity research occurring in Florida's state universities. 

Dr. Wei Ding, associate professor at Florida Polytechnic University, outlined his research into mobile phone security. Ian Markword, a researcher at the University of South Florida, discussed his research into power grid security. 

WEDU, a PBS affiliate, serves West Central Florida, including Tampa, St. Petersburg, Sarasota and Lakeland.
