Industry analysts have estimated that cybercrime costs more than $10 trillion to society, with billions of dollars being stolen from small, medium, and large-sized enterprises and identities of millions of people compromised. The complexity is increasing not only because more people are connected to the Internet, but also because hackers have developed "backdoor" ways to attack simple to more complex systems.
As Floridians and statewide organizations conduct more of their day-to-day business online, transmitting or storing confidential or sensitive information electronically, the need for network and information security has increased exponentially. The Florida Center for Cybersecurity is working to combat cybercrime by creating and supporting cybersecurity programs with advanced education initiatives, research projects, and outreach campaigns.
Cybersecurity impacts everyone globally in our increasingly interconnected world.
